Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation occurs when excess melanin (skin pigment) is produced, leading to darker patches or uneven skin tone. This can be triggered by sun exposure, hormonal changes, inflammation, or injury to the skin. Types of hyperpigmentation include sun spots, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (from acne or trauma), and melasma. While often harmless, it can be cosmetically concerning, especially on visible areas such as the face, hands, and décolletage. Modern treatments target pigment directly, regulate melanin production, and improve overall skin clarity while minimising risk of recurrence.

Recommended treatments

Pico Laser

Pico laser technology delivers ultra-short pulses of energy that break pigment into microscopic particles, which the body’s immune system gradually clears. This latest-generation laser is more precise and safer for darker skin types compared to traditional Q-switched lasers or IPL, with reduced risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It effectively targets freckles, sun spots, and uneven pigmentation with minimal downtime.

Lutronic eCO₂ Laser

The Lutronic eCO₂ fractional CO₂ laser resurfaces the skin, removing pigmented cells while stimulating collagen production. This is especially beneficial for deeper pigmentation, advanced sun damage, or when hyperpigmentation is combined with texture irregularities. Results improve progressively over months as new, healthy skin replaces the treated tissue.

Compounded Skincare

Custom-compounded topical creams containing medical-grade depigmenting agents such as hydroquinone, kojic acid, azelaic acid, or retinoids help reduce pigment formation at its source. These formulations are tailored to the individual’s skin type and pigmentation severity, offering a gradual, controlled fade while maintaining skin health.
