TCA Cross (Spot Treatment for Scars & Imperfections)

Erase stubborn scars, spots, and imperfections with targeted high-strength resurfacing for smoother, clearer skin.

TCA Cross

How it works

✔ TCA CROSS (Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars) is a highly targeted resurfacing technique using very high-strength trichloroacetic acid (70–95%) applied with pinpoint precision to areas of concern.

✔ The acid is carefully placed within the scar or lesion using a fine applicator, where it causes controlled chemical coagulation of proteins in the dermis. This process initiates an intense wound-healing response, stimulating fibroblast activity and triggering the production of new collagen and elastin.

✔ Over a series of treatments, this collagen remodelling results in visible filling and smoothing of deep or narrow scars and significant improvement in skin texture. Because the surrounding skin is left untreated, downtime is localised and recovery is faster than with full-field resurfacing.

TCA Cross

What It Treats

✔Ice pick acne scars

✔Deep boxcar scars

✔Enlarged pores

✔Stubborn sun spots or pigmentation spots

✔ Localised skin texture irregularities

TCA Cross

Treatment Insights

✔ Typically performed in a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart for best results.

✔ Downtime is localised to the treated spots, with whitening (frosting) immediately after, followed by redness, mild swelling, and scab formation over 5–7 days.

✔ Treated areas naturally shed, revealing smoother and healthier skin beneath.

✔ Can be safely combined with other resurfacing modalities, such as fractional CO₂ laser or microneedling, for comprehensive scar improvement.

FAQ

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients require 3–6 sessions for optimal improvement, but this varies based on scar depth and skin response.

Is it painful?

Discomfort is minimal, as the treatment is applied only to specific spots. A brief stinging sensation may occur, subsiding within minutes.

What’s the downtime?

Downtime is localised. Treated spots will turn white immediately (frosting), then darken, form small scabs, and shed naturally in 5–7 days.

Is it safe for all skin types?

TCA CROSS can be used on most skin types, but caution is required for darker skin tones due to the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Pre and pos treatment skincare may be recommended to reduce this risk.

When will I see results?

Some improvement is visible after the first session, with progressive results building over several months as collagen remodelling continues.
