Our treatments
For excessive armpit and palm sweating, Asterie Clinic offers botulinum toxin injections to stop sweating from overactive sweat glands.
FAQs
Before treatment the skin is anaesthetised with an anaesthetic cream and ice is applied. Serial injections of anti-wrinkle injections spaced about 1cm apart are injected into the skin over the area that is sweating heavily. 50-100 units are required for each palm or each armpit to reduce sweating. The injections take up to an hour with minimal down-time.
The procedure is considered to be safe. The risks are similar to those of anti-wrinkle injections to the face. These include:
mild swelling at the injection site (common), bruising at the injection site, headache, eyebrow or eyelid droop, blurred vision (rare), allergic reactions (rare), infection (rare)
Injecting into the palms can also cause some weakness in the intrinsic muscles of the hand so these injections are not recommended for those with already reduced hand functionality.
Results last for up to 9 months time and the effects start to work in a week.
