For both skinboosting or filling of the nasolabial folds we typically use a maximum of 1ml per sitting. Occasionally, more will be needed in a subsequent session depending on how deep the folds are.

For nasolabial folds we prefer to use hyaluronic acid fillers. Collagen stimulating fillers are not suitable around this area due to the proximity to the muscles of the mouth. We prefer to use a thinner filler for the purposes of skinboosting this area while we opt for a medium consistency filler for volumisation. The ideal hyaluronic acid filler for this area should have a good degree of elasticity as this area is very mobile. A filler than is not elastic is going to look more lumpy and will be more prone to migration.

Nasolabial folds, while a more common area for filling, is actually a higher risk area for fillers. The facial artery and its branch, the angular artery, lie at a variable depth and positioning relative to this fold. This underscores the importance of safer techniques for filling this area to prevent blindness and vascular occlusion.
