FAQs
At Face Doctors, nose fillers is a treatment that we commonly perform. The nose is an extremely important focal point of the face so having a nose that is harmonious with the rest of your face is critical.
In terms of problems that can be corrected with nose fillers, these include:
-
- Lifting the bridge: this can eliminate the appearance of a flat nose
- Lifting the nose tip: to improve the appearance of a downturned tip
- Removing the appearance of a nose hump
- Correcting defects from broken noses or poor nose job results
- Increasing nose projection
- Improving nose symmetry
- Change the nasolabial angle: to make the nose look more upturned
Compared to a surgical rhinoplasty, nose fillers have the following benefits:
- Cheaper
- Almost immediate results
- Avoid the pain of surgery
- Quicker recovery
- Quicker treatment
- Overall less risky
However, nose fillers are not for everyone which is why a consultation is needed to determine your suitability.
While treatment time varies between individuals, treatment time is typically less than 30 minutes. Treatment time is short enough to be scheduled in a lunch time break.
While a consultation to accurately determine whether you are suitable, generally speaking, nose fillers can be a good solution so long as you don’t expect to dramatically reduce or increase the size of your nose. If you require the internal structure of your nose to be corrected, surgical rhinoplasty may be a better option.
To maintain the results after a nose filler treatment is best to avoid putting pressure on the injected area for a few weeks. Fillers can be malleable for a few weeks before they get integrated by the body and firm up. This means you should minimise the use of eyeglasses and sunglasses where practical if they sit on the area of the nose that was injected. Face washing and showering as normal is fine. However, avoid makeup on the injected area for 24 hours after treatment.
Serious risks with nose fillers are extremely rare. More common side effects are bruising, redness and swelling. A lumpy appearance and poor cosmetic results are possible if the treatment is done by an expert.
Non-surgical nose jobs, liquid rhinoplasty and nose fillers all typically refer to nose fillers. Nose fillers typically involve the injection of hyaluronic acid fillers. The advantage of these fillers is that they can be dissolved in the case of a medical emergency. Nose shape may also be improved with the use of botulinum toxin to improve a droopy tip.
Nose shape changes as we age. Anatomical changes cause the tip of the nose to become more downturned and the radix to thin out. Both of these changes can be corrected with fillers.
Nose fillers are a very subtle treatment and a small volume goes a long way! We most often use less than 1 ml to achieve great results. However, volumes required may change from person to person. Rarely, a second treatment may be necessary to slightly adjust the shape at 1 month follow up. These follow up treatments will incur an additional charge.
The results of nose fillers are instant. In cases of swelling and bruising, this usually subsides after a few days but may take 2 weeks to fully resolve.
While this varies from person to person, nose filler results can last up to 2 years time.
- Are considering a surgical nose job but want to test the waters first
- Are after subtle changes to their nose
- Want more instant results without the downtime of surgery
- Do not have the budget for surgery
- Are afraid of the permanent nose changes that could happen after surgery
We use the smallest needles possible to minimise pain, swelling, and bruising. By injecting small droplets at a time we also increase the safety and smoothness of our injection technique.
Yes, nose fillers can straighten noses with humps visible from a side on view.
Face Doctors Clinic offers ultrasound guidance for nose fillers. This lets us track where the blood vessels are sitting before the treatment to minimise the risk of a blood vessel occlusion or blindness due to filler being injected into an artery. Due to the increased time spent performing the procedure, ultrasound guidance before nose fillers costs an additional $150.
For patients who have had a rhinoplasty and are looking for additional correction with fillers, ultrasound guidance is especially useful. This is because blood vessels shift in unpredictable ways during surgery and may not lie in safer zone for injecting the nose filler.
